Labeling

Label each box with details of the contents or the room description. The boxes are distributed by our staff in the correct rooms according to this information, so that the box with the pots is in the kitchen and the box with the laundry in the bedroom; and not the other way around. This saves you a lot of time and unnecessary work looking for the right box.

Pay attention to the weight

The moving boxes should not weigh more than 20 kg to a maximum of 25 kg when packed. Remember that each box must be carried and stowed on the truck. Moving boxes are only ever carried by one employee. You too have to move and stack the packed boxes in the apartment. It is advisable to pack the cardboard boxes only half full with heavy items (e.g. books, or the like) and then fill them up with light items (laundry, sofa cushions, etc.). By the way: please pack the box so that the side handles remain free.

Fully packed

The moving boxes should always be “fully” packed if possible. In this way, you can fully utilize the volume of the boxes, reduce the number of boxes required as far as possible and make it easier for the moving staff to stow the boxes on the truck. The fully packed boxes are easier to stack on the moving van and are not as susceptible to damage as only half-filled boxes.

Prevent damage

Damage to plates can be avoided if you do not pack them horizontally but upright in the moving boxes. Always ensure that there is sufficient padding between the individual parts of dishes and glasses. If you shake the packed carton lightly, you should definitely not hear a clink. The “open” ie unbound page of books should never be packed against each other in order to prevent the pages from buckling. It is best to also wrap very high-quality books in wrapping paper. Please also pay attention to the weight, especially with the books. We will be happy to provide you with suitable materials for packaging, such as packing silk, wrapping paper, etc. Newsprint can be used as a filling material between the goods that have already been packed. Note, however, that the printing ink rubs off very easily. Bubble wrap is not suitable for packing dishes and glass.

Disclaimer of liability

Please note that the insurance companies assume no liability for the contents of the boxes that you pack yourself. You are welcome to book partial packaging for your household effects with us. For example, you can pack the “unbreakable” items yourself and let us pack the dishes, porcelain, etc.

Large parts of

objects that do not fit into the moving boxes due to their size are properly stowed by our employees. All glass furniture parts, e.g. glass table tops, glass shelves etc. should always be packed by our employees.

Pictures and mirrors

All pictures, paintings and mirrors should be packed by our staff. Our staff is trained accordingly and has both the necessary knowledge and the right materials. If you still want to pack these parts yourself, make sure that the corners and edges are properly secured in order to exclude the greatest sources of danger. Paintings must always be packed twice, i.e. with bubble wrap and picture boxes.
